Anyway, I always like to see what the rooms dedicated to Scottish architectural vision have on offer at the Annual Exhibition. I am going to bring you three that caught my eye. The first one here was on my 'choices' list, but as you see, sold already! I loved this Highlands background with the wee bothy home nestled so nicely into it. I also like to imagine that this was just the entryway built around a cave, and the living space is deep in the rock... a girl can daydream...

It does not especially appeal to me, YAM, but isn’t that the very essence of art that it can evoke admiration and wonder in one person, and indifference or even dislike in others? And values change, too, especially with exposure and education.

DeleteVery true, David... it has to be admitted, too, that the photograph does the piece no favours, for the collage created dimensions that are rather lost in this image... Yxx
it has something we see when we look twice...
ReplyDeleteI love the Artist's name - doesn't get more Scots than that. Rather bleak challenging lanscape he has depicted.
ReplyDeleteAmazing art work
ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed pen and ink (Bryan used to dabble in that) the pop of color in the middle was fun too

I like the layers...and the textures!
ReplyDeleteAmazing landscape! Take care, Happy Monday! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI like it, but without the orange, and I am thinking it looks much better hanging on a wall
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating piece of art. At first glance I was drawn to the dramatic mountain landscape, but the longer I looked, the more details emerged from the intricate lines and textures.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find especially striking is the tiny illuminated bothy. Surrounded by the vastness of the mountains, it becomes the emotional centre of the picture. The contrast between the monochrome landscape and the warm glow of the little building creates a wonderful sense of solitude, shelter and belonging.
As someone who loves landscapes, I can easily understand why this work was already sold. It invites the viewer to invent stories. Like you, I found myself imagining what might lie beyond that small doorway. Perhaps it really is the entrance to a hidden world within the mountain.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful discovery.
What a beautiful piece. It really does bring out your imagination to wonder what is behind that door.
ReplyDeleteIntricate and engaging.
ReplyDeleteYour fantasy is great.
ReplyDeleteWhat an intriguing painting and we wonder why he chose to paint the house in the orange tones.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really interesting piece of art - I really like pieces that make me wonder about what they are trying to say. 'Whats this about then?" is a question I like to ask. I also like the fact that the artist may have the most Scottish name I have ever seen!
