Menonday Art Vibe: Tally-Ho

I am deeply interested in sculptural works. There aren't too many that I would necessarily want to own, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate them. (I do have a small collection - and one of the new pieces to be revealed is, in fact, a sculpture...) Particularly the very large items that can only really be fitted into gallery spaces, office foyers, or street/garden installations.

Every now and then, though, the heart goes..."ooohhhhhhhhh....". That's what happened when I stood by this little bronze. It took me right back to childhood and my (shared with ten other kids) Rose Roan pony called, rather unimaginatively, Pinky. The local stables created a kids' collective so that, for a small subscription fee, we all got a weekly ride, with a chance to learn gymkana and point-to-point racing, and to understand what was involved in keeping a horse or pony - so yes, that included all the stall and yard work as well as the animal care. Anyway. All that flooded back when I saw this.

  7. I expect that all those zeroes did not deter you, YAM, and it now sits in the Hutch. 😏

  8. There's something Outback about the composition - a hot day, casual clothes and shoes, headed for a billabong perhaps.
