Two years ago today, my father passed away. He it was who introduced me to the sounds of Chopin. I had been learning piano and was progressing through the exams in such a way I suspect he was harbouring ambitions greater than my own for me! Dad was selective, though. He tended only to favour Chopin's dances and was particularly fond of the mazurkas - those Polish triple-time pieces that vary from the waltz by being one-two-THREE, one-two-THREE. I never did learn any of these - but dad and I always enjoyed listening together. Here is one of the faves, played by an absolute legend... thanks for the memories, dad.
Dear Yam - with thoughts today ... these will be wonderful to listen to later on ... with peace - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThe music is beautiful and I really like this picture of the two of you. Both have such a beautiful smile on your face and you look so happy and it's perfect for a tribute to remember your dad on that anniversary. How did 2 years get by so fast I had no idea it had been that long.
ReplyDeletemusic is a wonderful thing to be together... even when it is in our heart and in our memories....
ReplyDeleteLove the music and the happy photo of you and your dad together. Hugs to you♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful picture of you both. Joining you in remembering your dad today. Lee and Phod's Lady
ReplyDeleteYAM 100% in agreement with K10 on the photo. Sending hugs to you on this day. My mind's eye has images of Dad smiling on you today. The digits moving effortless as the tickle the ivory and ebony.

Such a cheerful photo of you and your dad, Yamini. Wonderful music as well.
ReplyDeleteWe were about to wish you happy St Andrews Day but guess it is one of those mixed days now (unless you believe in a celebration of a life, rather than reliving the sense of loss on each anniversary). Great photo by the way. Clearly there is a shared joy. We will listen to your music this evening, after work. Furrings and purrings Mr T and F

DeleteOh very much celebration of that life shared - not without a little 'heart catch' but certainly not maudlin! Yxx
Such a beautiful photo of you and your father. Two years already? It took me about two years to adjust to life with both of my parents gone. Thinking of you today. And thanks for another beautiful piece of Chopin.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Gail.

ReplyDeleteSo nice to see a photo of your dad and you. By the way what is big photo in back ground.
