WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menonday Art Vibe; Henry Kondracki Peeks

For the next three weeks, I am sharing screenshots of works I have cherry-picked from an online display of this artist's work. Mr Kondracki is a creator whose pieces I always admire, but have generally been well outwith my price capability - or are oversized for my space. This recent offering, though, includes several pieces that are not exorbitant - I will save my absolute fave until the last.

HK has a very loose stroke, generous in its application, but never loses the integrity of the scene being depicted. He paints the streets, the seascapes, and countryside, the seasons and ambience, of the Edinburgh, of the Scotland, that I know.

Let us begin with this view across to Calton Hill from the Queen's Park (Holyrood)...

  1. Light strokes? I wish you gave your analysis or something of the sort for dummies like me.

Loose strokes... that is to say, relaxed application of the oil paints, bringing a texture that is somewhat lost in the photograph... HKs pieces are not at all photographic, yet leave a similar impression upon the mind.

😁 I have been leaving my art choices free of that sort of analysis so that each viewer can take their own angle on things, but I'm more than happy to add in such detail, ta for asking! Yxx

  3. For some reason that image reminds me of what I could see from one side of the nurses residence I lived in when I was in Halifax, NS, way back in 1976/7! Maybe it is because of the weather effects? Nice painting though!! I like it!

  4. Prices that are not exorbitant? Do I see a purchase in the future, YAM? Perhaps the picture you are saving till the end?
