Long-term readers here know that I have, in the past, supported six different charities. However, my own financial circumstances have had to be reassessed this year, so it has been with some regret that it became necessary to reduce my giving. There is one, though, which will remain. To withdraw support entirely would only afford me a small amount extra in my budget but would greatly reduce any sense of participation in society beyond myself. I believe it is important to keep one's mind, heart - and wallet - open as an energy flow. Withdrawing out of fear of insufficiency can lead to dark places.
The retained charity also allows me to share the joy I receive from my connection with it. You will not be surprised, I suspect, to find that it is the Guide Dog training sponsorship that started with Isaac and took us through Fletcher, Spirit and Sprout. The latter, like Fletcher, failed his seeing-eye exams but was successful in retraining as a buddy dog and is now firmly placed with Isabella and her family. Here is a short film showing them together.
Now, here is another wee vid with the latest recruits... which one of these do you think has become my new sponsor pup???
Did you guess Albus? Well, that is who is going to be appearing here with pupdates for the next couple of years! Come back next week to see the full intro to this bouncy new blogpal-by-proxy!
The constraints on giving at this time are well understood , so a huge well done for continuing to support the guide dogs. Wishing Albus, an his fellow trainees, all the best!
ReplyDeleteHi Yam - yes ... I too am struggling but life goes on ... I'm glad you're supporting Sprout and his friends - now Albus ... thank you - with thoughts - Hilary
ReplyDeletethe first video touched my heart and thank you for helping with his care. you picked the right charity to keep. Mine is the shelter where we found our Big Boy. I would have picked Moose as my puppy, because he is black and reminds me of my Sweet Big

DeleteD'ya know, when I saw this vid, I too might have picked Moose, had there been the option to do so - however, the pups are assigned by the organisation, no choice given. Which, in truth, is probably best, for just as with shelters, there might be some pups left on the side... Yxx
Sprout is such a wonderful dog and it's going to be fun to watch to Albus grow.
ReplyDeleteSprout well done you are a perfect mate for Isabella. And Might I add Isabella furs matches your fur!
ReplyDeleteAlbus is a must handsome pup and I know he will thrive and grow into a wonderful service dog for a very lucky person
Hugs cecilia
Yippie! Service dogs are so important. I used to support a marvelous organization in the lower mainlad that trained service dogs for soldiers and police with PSD. Your new sponsee is adorable and I look forward to seeing Albus's progress! Keep on being awesome! Barb
ReplyDeleteIt would have taken a bit of soul searching to make your choice of charity so it’s good to hear you decided on one really close to your heart.
ReplyDeleteI’m sure all three will grow to be wonderful companions to someone in need. Albus has an intelligent look about him, Moose gives the impression of being a bit of a larrikin while Grace is soft and gentle……no matter how they turn out they are going to be loved.
What cute videos. We're glad Sprout found a home where he can help the family.
ReplyDeleteMore power to you.
