Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

The last of our birthday composers (for now, at least) is Alois Haba, born on the 21st of June, 1893, in Vizovice, Czech Republic. His is of the early Modern classification of musical styles; still lyrical, but displaying that more explorative (eccentric?) tendency of the Modern era. I enjoy things that demand my full attention in listening... how about you?

  1. Full attention is the ideal. How else will we enjoy the music otherwise? But, as I've said earlier, I listen to music nowadays only while driving. Lack of time is the only reason. Hence I'm not able to pay attention to much of it. I like the soothing effect along the way.

  4. You know, YAM, I am almost ashamed to say it, but as I have aged I have become more of a listener, and have abandoned analytic assessment. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, except that I tend to gravitate towards familiar pieces and pay less attention than I should to innovation. The Beethoven string quartets will never grow old though!
