WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-no-play-today...

Some of you may be relieved! No more puzzles for the time being. I could have given this last Monday of the year a final crossword... but I wish to use this space to let you know that 2023 will bring a slight change of emphasis here at DoWY.  Fret not; you'll still get bits of the zany and eclectic. However, I've long wanted to bring in improved levels of writing and incorporate more of the deeper self. Much of that had been directed over to the Aatmaavrajanam blog. Events of 2020 put paid to my ability to maintain that blog, and, to some degree, it had reached a natural closing point anyway. AVblogs (chapter 1 and chapter 2) remain on the web for any to view and receive guidance in the philosophy of Advaita.

The thing about philosophy is that (in my view) it holds little water unless it is practically applied. I attempt every day to live up to the principles and precepts of the philosophy I have spent so long studying and inculcating. While it is wonderful to revel in high intellectual gymnastics, there should be no losing sight of the ground which must be traversed in daily life. Furthermore, as Gandhi famously said, being the change one wishes to see in the world is the best advertisement. Lead by example.

DoWY has quietly done this, with the message of capital 'ell' Love and other stories. The intention, moving into the twenty-third year of this century, is to build on that message and that will, at times, mean bringing forth things that may challenge and demand of my readers a little more attention than they are used to giving!

You have witnessed some of this approaching with the arrival of the Menowercogitatus label, 'Thinking Thursdays.' And I will continue to expand on this shift in gears this coming Thursday. For now, though, let me advise you that - at least for January - Monday and Tuesday posts here are going to lie fallow. In the case of Tuesdays (Me-Now-Views), it is simply because I have no fresh photos, and there is only so much recycling from the archives that one blog can carry! That said, I have had such a strong run of daily posting that I might find I have withdrawal symptoms. Let's see how that goes...

Right, on with the last week of the year then, folks. May it be a good one...

PS - in case you did not see it, or as a reminder, I put out a call to action on Saturday's Post. I am going to keep placing the link. Please spread the word, and quickly. The Collection Pot is only open until January 13th. Thank you.

  2. At least one of your readers (i.e. me) will miss the crosswords. But I look forward to seeing what 2023 brings on this blog!
    Cheers, Gail.

  3. I am going to change a little also, still not sure how. or when, can't seem to make up my mind. I like the idea of a couple days fallow, will wait to see how that goes with you. one of my changes, is to flog myself into going out of the house at ;east once a week to look for POO, you know what that is... there is nothing on our small piece of this earth that has not been mentioned many times over and over and photographed over and over..

  4. I hear you YAM we have not been on any trails for a while with my crazy knee and no new photos now that I have used all the Christmas from visiting Logan's. I seem to have lots of symmetry remaining and with my Furry Nephews.

  5. Methinks we are all getting a touch of the midwinter mopes - short hours of daylight and the daily diet of depressing news full of anxieties makes a lot of what makes a good life seem trite or trivial - a daily walk, notes on the changing of the seasons. We admire Angus and Sophie for keeping us hooked on a daily walk, village observations, a cup of coffee and a fillip of the intellectual gleaned from a keen interest in the world. F has been telling herself 'must do better too'. Here's to new year resolutions.... xxx Mr T
