Am travelling back to the Hutch after an extended visit Eastwards. Howzabout one of my puzzles? (Standard copout, I know, but they are fun right?!)
WYSIWYG
What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-noo-offagainorrhoea; yes, a further trip!
As will be travelling again today and without Voovoo to update you quite yet, allow me, if you will, to provide another puzzle! Remember, you can work this puzzle with some help, using the 'buttons' on the bottom of the frame!
Menootanaboot again.
Yes, I have taken off in L'il Ren over for some time with the Father in Edinburgh. It will be the first big test of the wrist. If you are reading this, it means I made it! Given the need for economy of time, let me today share another of my puzzles. Have fun!
Me-(k)no-wing-you-knowing-me
In the recent A-Z challenge, I found a new pal in Nupur Maskara. Her posts related 100% to my subject, but she had a very different and fresh take on it all. She posts on a variety of subjects, as will be seen by the tabs at the top of her page.
Recently she tagged me with the Mystery Blogger "award". It was first generated by Okoto Engima. I have so far managed to escape all such nonsense. This is not an award for merit or works - but one must be generous and think that the tagger thinks enough of one to ask the questions and is truly interested in the responses. These tags are really memes in disguise and - as mentioned before - I generally avoid memes also. It's not that I think they are wrong or anything; they simply do not interest me for the most part and also have sufficient material of my own to not have to be spending time on them. This is not meant unkindly. It is also true that I occasionally break out of my own fencing. As usual, there are rules and, as I have rules on my own monthly 'join in', it might be expected I'll follow them. The difference is that mine is an invitation. #6 of this set implies there's no choice for joining in, but I say there is. I will not tag others. I may, however, drop by your blog and invite you to think about sharing this 'tag'. (If you do, you should use the logo image from Nupur's page and not my naughty amendment here!)
⚛ I first studied and qualified in computer science - and it took me to OZ and working that industry took me to the lowest point of my life, mentally and physically. That resulted in more studies.
⚚ I studied and practiced as a homoeopathic physician/remedial therapist/counsellor for fifteen years. Practising this supported another love in life, then...
ॐ the decision was made to move to India, where I followed that love and studied to attain "Vedaantaachaarya".
To answer Nupur's questions:
1) All the above three things constitute a fraction of me. Throughout all of them, my anchor has been writing. If at all I could be said to have a passion, wordcraft might be it. That is visible. The invisible is my spiritual connection - but now I even try to write about that!
2) What I like best about writing is the way it helps me to clarify my thinking. Not just the stuff I put here or on other blogs, but in my personal reflections. The blank page can be the best of therapies. (Or the biggest bully...!)
3) Biggest life change? ... Having engineered all my own life changes (bar one), I have learned that I am entirely adaptable and seek adventure. The one I didn't choose left a mark, but that too is gone. Anyone really that interested can always read the MacHistory posts.
4) Quotes are many, but if there is one which I live by as much as I am capable it is that of Mahatma Gandhi;
Nothing funny or amusing about phubbing - and is it wrong that I laughed when I saw a young fellow walk slap-bang into a bollard whilst he was so busy with his social media? Hurt him right where he deserved.
... and by that, dear pals, you learn just a little of the dark side of YAM-aunty !!!
To pick a post to point you to is not easy; decided to look at the most viewed. This one stuck out.
Now - if it interests you to make a post based on such questions, try these five;
You are given fifteen minutes to gather some items before shipping to a remote island. You pack...
1) which three books (no e-readers. Remote. Island. Got it?)
2) which three of the images you have on your wall or shelf?
3) which three emergency health items? (Not just plasters, okay?)
4) which three items of kitchen equipment? (No, not the processor, which bit of remote island passed you by?)
5) which three personal items? (As daft as possible and nothing powered. Reminder. Remote and island.)

Longing TOO long
What's that>>> no 'menotitle'??!!! No my dears. As spoken yesterday, I am now Down Under and these are scheduled posts. A number of pre-existing 'fancifuls' are getting the work-over. As I would normally use 'Menolyrical...' to title such, it would become a tad monotonous and not at all convey the adventures in words which lie beneath the tags! Therefore, for several posts over the next two months, you will spot the 'lyrical and nonsensical' by the lack of meno. [oh to be meno-free.....]
This first title serves several purposes; for too long I have been longing to get some full and proper writing done; for long, I have been longing for this trip back to OZ; as am away for long, there was a need to fill these spaces to maintain a flow - it's not that I won't be online. Australia has a rep for being behind the times, but I assure you, broadband is available! However, time will be at a premium and creating posts could be 'iffy'. That said, there is every possibility that you will see a break in these transmissions and a return to meno-service... you just never never know with the YAMster and her show!
The title also refers, of course, to the little tale which follows. It was prompted originally by Grandma's Goulash meme. The picture is provided and the bonus word to be incorporated was 'yearn'. As you will see - this just had to be first off the retread blocks.

Ridgdidge was confused. She wanted to go that way. But all the signs said it was the opposite way. Oh how she yearned for clear direction.
(140 chrx)
Word has gone out; all ‘roos to attend corroboree. White fella he never know. He think the posts warn against attack of ‘roo. Well, it helps, keeps us safe. Gratitude for that.
But this you see is a sign to me; the time has come once more to join at the edge of time. Join with our Ajunta brothers. Join with Koori, Indjilinji, Yanda and Ayerrerenge. Meet again with Luritja, Ngalia, Gunindiri, Warlpiri and Yankunytjatjara. All our man-peers and, too, with all ‘roo tribes. Serpent will be there. Spider will be there. Lizard will be there.
Together we will chant and dance. Become one again. As before. We all yearn for that time. Dreamtime.
(114 wds)Menoxtra - a little bit on the side... plus a bit extra extra extra
Have been beavering away at planning for the big trip; in terms of the blogs. Have loaded up TAKE blog right to the end of the year already; have calendared and time-tabled for the teaching bloggy... and this one is a work in progress. It left me feeling a wee bit lacking in inspiration as to what to present you today - then Grandma's prompt arrived - so have run with that!!!
Use the photo as inspiration for a story of 140 characters OR 140 words.
This week's bonus word is ZIT
Picksie got her pet-name due to her persistent fiddling with
the zit on her cheek; a trait her toddler had inherited.

“Oh Vanda, zat iz zo interesting… izit a ferry alt tree,

(62 chrx)
“Nix, Picksie; zits tree iz neizer alt nor yoong;

(93 chrx)
As am using this post
to fill in for the whole of Monday, am adding a tale outwith the rulings of the
meme.
PEEK-A-PICKSIE-POETREE
The mother and her daughter small
Stood and listened in a state of thrall
As her brother’s partner’s wife
Told the tale of the Tree of Life
Legend held it long
in tongue
Language of ancients now rarely sung
But Vanda was a child of that line
Which held the sayings strict and fine
Narrating now the story of the tree
How it was it set their people free
From the bondage of an earthly life
And thus spake the brother’s partner’s wife
“Zits tree iz an ageless thing
About it now pleaze let me zing
Itz hiztory iz beyond all knowing
Throughout time itz zap iz flowing
Ztanding watch o’er all who care
To take zome time to ztand and ztare
And call upon itz wizdom deep
Which from itz bark-bound flesch does zeep
No beginning and no ending
Da Tree of Life iz foreffer ztanding
A zacred place for us to zhelter
When our world zeems helter-zkelter
OOnter itz branches long and ztrong
We find succour when life turnz wrong
Alwayz take a moment, Picksie Scheez
(you’ll forgive my anxious pleaz?)
When you and Minipick wander by
Remember why it gave the gift to cry
In zis way we can relieve ourzelves
Of the daily angsts and yearly illz
It iz a muzzer and a fadther to uz all
Forget not, then, upon itz rootz to call.”

Menorinsicle; it's a word laundering thing
Instead of the usual trawling of the available smirks on the great etherlibrary, I am doing one of my recycles from the now defunct MY TAKE TOO bloggy. It's been a while since I did that. For newer readers; there was a 4th blog until the start of this year, at which I posted only twice weekly and only my poetry or short story stuff. Have been gradually reintegrating all those into this blog. Not because they are necessarily noteworthy, but because I wish to keep track of what I did, where I am and whether it's getting me anywhere.
This one was one of the early efforts made after discovering the Succinctly Yours meme at Grandma's Goulash.
Splash Zone
Grandma has done it again - given some ingredients for 'goulash'. We are to provide micro-fiction not exceeding 140 characters or 140 words. The picture prompt this week is great fun and the bonus word is ZONE.

Bruno bobbed and splashed; he was focused; he was in his zone; one way or another he would dig to the bottom.

His master cried “NOOOOO, Bruno, that’s the people’s zone”, but too late. The splash was tsunamic!

Childrens’ eyes alight with glee

With phosphorescent energy
Ristle rustle hissy spittle

Drissle drossle prickly pokel
Like stars they reach up for the sky

Ben, Bob and Barry
Went down to the quarry
Where the water green
Grew deep and unseen.
Brought with them a bike
In memory of Mike
Who sunk into the depth
Which won his life in theft.
How do you quantify
The way to live or die,
Be it force of Nature
Or misadventure?
What is the measure,
Of loss of treasure,
Is it acts, or age?
Is it calm or rage?
Is’t the level of play
Which whisks life away?
It only takes a second
To land up at the end.
Barry, Bob and Ben
Pondered this and, then,
Sunk the memory bike
And said goodbye to Mike.

Willa wondered what was working
The tee-stance or the upright posture
The door tight shut or the
Yank-my-line
Her disguise was held as crime
When the goondas came and took her
Making sure her light no
More could shine
Allowing every man and dog
Apparently upset the passers
Performance or not they
charged a fine
They did not think it art at all
To play the part of a phone box old
Stripped her of the red and
Smashed her sign
Willa the statue artist long
Held the pain of that day close to heart
Turned to the solace of
Back street wine
Her posture now all slumped and low
Broken by the critics and pundits
Did any know or care or
Hear her pine?

Now the fun was kind of going out of it as she was approached
more and more for reviews. Once or twice a month was okay – but every day? ‘Hey’
she muttered, ‘if they want commercials there’s the telly!’
With that, she typed back, ‘Sending bones to a cat? Careless. Frank review? Purrless…’

Clara yelled “We were so far ahead now I can hear the next team
coming!” Binty could tell there was a
tantrum rising.
“Look Clara, fourth clue, ‘Round back left scroll’”.
The younger girl just pouted and it was clear that it was up
to Harry and herself to sort this one. “Think Harry!” The two of them were silent for a moment. Looking at the rock from where the monitor had
appeared, Harry wondered, “round this rock – at the back, another scroll is
left?”
“Brilliant!” Clara had regained her enthusiasm and led the
charge round the rock. They walked up to the smiling teenage monitor and
started searching his pockets. Binty found it. Another piece of parchment.
Their faces lit up. What did they see?

First clue had been to “sink a whale”. They had thought it daft,
until Binty noticed the cluster of glass whales over by some seaweed. She,
Harry and Clara had selected one, taken it to the water’s edge and thrown it
in. Whale duly sunk. A monitor appeared from behind a large rock and handed
them the next clue.
“Scroll down and over the next wave.” They put the scroll
down and headed off in the boat. Binty, who had taken the front oar, was faced
with a problem. How to determine which
one exactly was the next wave?
‘Wait! We were supposed to scroll down the page, turn it
over, then, next, wave!!! We misread
it.’
Paddling furiously back, they grabbed the piece of
parchment, did as Binty suggested and out popped the monitor with their fourth
clue.

By any yardstick, the light of the far North could not

…and now for something
a bit different; I am not sure how ‘Granny’ selects the pictures for the
prompt, but this week I was caught by the scene… and enlarging the photo was
able to make out the name on the door of the truck. Yes, it was what I
thought! "John Jolly, Coal Merchant, Kirkwall". I cut and paste some info you
may find interesting…
The business of John Jolly was founded by its namesake in 1902 in Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, where the business is still run from today. Originally a coal merchant, it grew by necessity into a shipping firm, dealing with various marine aspects that came its way by virtue of sourcing coal into a remote group of Scottish islands. Today, the Islands are not considered so remote, but still present some logistical challenges for the principal looking to send their vessels here.
John Jolly remains a family run business having been in the same hands since 1978, with the owners involved personally on a daily basis. Our local expertise is second to none and indeed we are unique in that we are genuinely locally based, providing a 24 hours service, 7 days per week.
The combined agency expertise of our operations department totals over 100 years. As well as the above, the Orkney Islands have very strong historical and cultural links with Norway and our chairman, Bill Spence, has acted as Consul for Norway in the islands since 1977.
