WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menosomnia [me-no-som-knee-ahhhhh]; the condition of hello world.

That's right folks.  Mee's not getting zzzeees.

Well, that's not entirely  accurate.  Sleep comes.  But usually at the most absurd times.  None of the usual "Oh 10pm, time for bed then" and subsequent "4:30's arrived and am feeling alive!"

No, no, no.  It's 10pm and hello world.

Okay, get some work done.

Pshaw!  Do you think being awake gives you brainy-acti-vaty?  Well it does, yes, but not in the focused-let's-knock-over-that-essay kind of busy.  More yer how-much-nonsense-can-be-inflicted-on-the-world-tonight? sort of thing.  This late night guff appears to tap into a rich vein of … (stoppit YAM).  It gets posted and - hello world!

Next thing you know it's past the midnight hour and finally, sleep beckons.  Four hours later it's 4am and hello world.  Not that one is at all useful then either.  It's all a bit foggy. Yes the routine activities are attended.  Morning devotions are adhered to.  Class arrives at 7am.

So do the zzzeees.  Goodbye world.

NNOOOO not now!!!  Pinches leg.  Shifts in chair.  Stretches legs and arms as surreptitiously as possible.

"...and thus it is that when Bhagawwclnnng;lk  jjtttoiie    gh HE is the only sourceeen;gnnntk;aoi .  WHAT! Is it thtat the sstudunnneett ..lngooj ss,  Let's chant that verse again…"

Huh?  Which verse?  End of class.

Already?

Reaches for the recorder.

AAGGHH !  Dozed off even at the beginning - no recording.  No worries, one of the brothers will have it.  "Krashbang-bhai, pretty please?"

"Sorry Yamini-ben, I seem to have forgotten to press the button.. ,."    Really?

"Never mind.  Romoeh-bhai, perchance we could have…?"

"I'm sorry Yamini-ji, forgot to bring it along…"

What's happening here? Other folk sleeping.  Other folk forgetting. Other folk looking like pandas.  Is my condition not all my own then?  Is it not confined to my tender years? Has it nothing to do with my fading femininity?

Is there some new mosquito-borne disorder of the circadian rhythm?  Ought I to be inviting researchers from W.H.O. and getting some brownie points so that they name the new disorder after me?  Menosomniolaria Yaminitis.

Hello world.  Let me infect you…

  1. Ha ha so funny and sad at the same time. Sad never seen you sleep in class before, funny cos the others have got it too. Perhaps you lot are a tad over worked? Forget the blogging, and everything else. Concentrate on th task at hand Yam. Well it might work or not.
    Take care

    Love and hugs

Definitely brain fag is lurking over the group as a whole. Also the end is in sight. Like the mountaineer or marathon runner, the toughest part us upon us.

Concentration is there - so much so that it is interfering with sleep. That was my point. This is all so deep and wonderful - but it is not, in the end, restful. Thus, I say again, the blogging is my self-rescue tool. My switch-gears-to-rest-the-brain technique. Mostly it is working.

    Mostly. xx

  3. Poor Yam! It sounds as thought you're following my example and becoming ever more of a night owl with the passage of time. I can't quite get my head round the idea that there is a time of day called 4am when people are expected to be awake and functioning. :-)

In fact this is more a reversion to type - mother used to despair of me! Study is great, but is does stimulate the brain rather...

Except occasionally in Upanishad class! &<

Nodding -- and applauding! -- from the cot at the back of the room...

O how I wish I could sleep as I once did!
