HAH! Yesterday I was introspecting about the
return to planet Earth, as it were, not at all knowing the nature or subject of
the text we were to be taking with Guruji - but it is so apt I just had to
share it with you!
Jivanmukta-anandalahari
(in veils of bliss whilst living) is a small but concise text by the key figure
in Advaita history, Sri Adi Shankara-acharya.
In a few short verses it describes how the true sadhu, the realised
master, is likely to be found inter-acting with the world at large.
It would
be fair to say that none of the 61 here has yet realised God. However, as
advanced practitioners and potential teachers of the craft of Vedantic living,
we can take something from this book.
The first
verse itself talks directly to the conclusion of yesterday's post - dealing
with the hustle and bustle of city life.
Written eight centuries ago, it is as fresh as a daisy! Salient points are these. Pay no heed to all
the go-getters and bejewelled. If you
are invited to the palace or to the local postman's cottage, approach each
equally in manners and attitude. Remain as equanimous with those you serve as with those who would serve you. Maintain silence in the madding crowd.
This was
but day one and already an answer came.
This is
something which has continually happened. A doubt or query arises and all I
have to do is put it up to the Lord and wait.
He finds a way to advise, guide - and punish!

On a more
flippant note, have nearly finished the packing and it is only three days till
Emm arrives. Posts may take on a whole
new hue during that time! Prepare yourselves.
Totally agree with what you've written. Love the pic and the quote too . The last two lines are gold, and yippee. Bring it on I say today excitement.
