Menosukhi Moment - he's a classic

Today is a very special day.  Three of the Macs have birthdays very close together.  Last week homage was paid to Mac3. Today though...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!

Yes, the father, who is a 1936er, celebrates his today.  The attentive will not have let it pass them by that this is also the anniversary of the major WW2 allied invasion of Normandy known as "D-DAY".  This year it is the 70th anniversary.  It is father's 78th.

Despite some very old photos in the family collection and in my own, sadly there are none of my father before his late teenage.  Got a couple of killers from then though!!!

That's him, front left - with fag in hand.  Am pretty sure he is not 18 yet, but back then there may not have been the legal limit.  Maybe 1955? (Based on ladies' hats.) I don't know the other people here.  Father was born up in North Scotland.  Here in fact...

That's elder sister on left and younger sister on right.  The cottage is now derelict.  It is also remote.

Childhood though was spent in Invergordon.

As soon as he qualified for his engineering apprenticeship, he headed South. He was based in Galashiels.  As these things go, he naturally met a fine young lass.

She was three months older. The day after dad's 23rd birthday they married - so they could say they were the same age...

Thus tomorrow being the 7th of June is also a family event.

Mother has departed.  Father, though, is still to the fore.  He lives with Parkinson's Disease, still independent.  This weekend, the younger Macs are coming up from Nottingham and bring him Westwards. They have rented a property an hour away from Dunoon; they'll pop in here on the way.  Mac1 and The Maestro will also be here.  No doubt there will be other connections over the 7 days they are over this way.  Family fun.

Let us not, today, forget to remember.

  4. Oh, that was a wonderful idea to be married the day after your dad's birthday. He was a fine looking young man. Happy Birthday to your father!

I am catching up. With five tiny kittens and an internet connection problem I have fallen way behind on visits.
