What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenoSunday - Life Lived Easy

World music has always fascinated me, not least for finding rhythms and traditions which resonate not just within a culture, but in unison with many others also.  Not so much in the highly structured 'classical' traditions; Carnatic music from India, for example is vastly different from that established in Europe or the Orient.  At the grass-roots, folk level though, there is a global resonance.

One of my favourite things if reggae, which I also like to dance.  A form which matches it well is bhangra, the traditional folk music and dance of the Punjab region of India.

Today I offer you modern bhangra in competition; here the choreography can be innovative but must adhere to the established step forms.  Move aside all you jazzercise and zumba-ites; this is fitness plus!  The music always lifts my mood and it is impossible to keep the shoulders still...

Did you tap a toe or two?
