Menory Lane - An Island Adventure - 1

Well it's time to get on with a little more about the Australian chapter in life. It had begun in 1989 (don't think I gave the date of emigration). There was the two years of uncertainty as the residency permits had to be all mucked around with . The settling in to working life and establishing an identity in a new situation. It was not all work and worry though.  There were side trips.

Recently, Aitch was clearing out some old files and came across a few letters I had sent from those early years...do you remember those things?  One of them triggered the memory of a most wonderful time I spent on a holiday with mother - just she and me - which I had already been wondering how to share with you.

  1. OMD Honest to GOODNESS Hand Written and TYPED Letters. I suddenly feel very SORRY for the NEXT GENERATION... they will never know the PURE JOY of opening a LETTER from a Friend or Loved One... and touching the paper that they touched and then Carefully Folding it back up... and SAVING it to read Over again... years later.
THIS is fabulous. THANKS for sharing it with us.

  5. I only rediscovered your posts this morning so am running a tad late but intend to catch up, eventually.
Letter writing is old hat now and that is why Australia Post is running at a loss. I actually wrote a letter to a friend the other day thanking her for the anniversary card she sent and am now inspired to write to several other friends.
I am looking forward to sharing this adventure with you although I did cheat and checked out a few later posts. I know I am going to enjoy going with you on this trip xx
