What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

A few weeks back you were given a glimpse of the crochet works under task... I am calling these the You-kneed U-kneek rugs.. three of them one for each of my sibs. The Maestro is getting a cushion cover with lots of nobbles and varied stitching, different weight wools and such to give her 'seeing fingers' something to linger over.

The first one is the heaviest, using various batches of natural coloured wool, some from Australian Merino and the rest from Scottish fleeces (mother had contacts!) This was the roughest, also, carrying lots of burrs and full of lanolin. It's "blokey" and therefor will be Mac3's pressy; it is being called SPRING FIELDS, as it reminds me of freshly ploughed earth.

The second one is being called SUMMER RAIN, and will be Mac2's.  It may be worth explaining that Mac3 was born at the end of spring; Mac2 was born in the summer.  You may guess the others!

Maestro's is being called AUTUMN LEAVES as it consists of the most separate parts. This is the only one which is not entirely from mother's homespun, because I wanted the different wool ply and texture; so the pink you see here is an acrylic.

Each of the rugs had little insets around which I worked - these were found among the wool; mother had made 'swatches' for testing and I wanted to share them round. The most striking was this rondel weave which has been used for Mac1's pressy. It is being called WINTERSUN.

Now all I have to do is make one for myself!!!  How are all your preps going???

They are and it would be very easy to forget to give them and join them altogether as one big blanket for myself - with another square made up of course... sigh... but no, they will reach the intended. It is such a lovely thing to do on cold nights! Yxx

  4. Very nice! We like the earthy colors too. Mom is plugging away at a blanket or something. Stanley likes to crochet but mom doesn't appreciate his help.

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  18. What a hard worker you are! Daisy and I took a walk in the forest. We saw some blood and somebody didn't live to see the end of the day. We're not really doing anything. My kids will come for dinner and overnight, then go home, but likely not my son in Ottawa and not the one in BC. It's a pretty lazy Christmas here.
