It's time to make Goulash
with Grandma again!
(Micro-fiction fun...why don't you give it a go?) Use the picture prompt she
provides to create simple, shortest of short, stories to tell its tale - kudos
gained for using the weekly bonus word. Today that is POSTURE
Willa wondered what was working
The tee-stance or the upright posture
The door tight shut or the
Yank-my-line
Her disguise was held as crime
When the goondas came and took her
Making sure her light no
More could shine
Allowing every man and dog
Apparently upset the passers
Performance or not they
charged a fine
They did not think it art at all
To play the part of a phone box old
Stripped her of the red and
Smashed her sign
Willa the statue artist long
Held the pain of that day close to heart
Turned to the solace of
Back street wine
Her posture now all slumped and low
Broken by the critics and pundits
Did any know or care or
Hear her pine?
(125 wds)
not sure why, but this combo turned me maudlin!
It IS sad.... guess the new era of Cell Phones has robbed the world of such icons as these.

DeleteHi guys, hope your day is going beautifully - and thanks for GETTING the poem!!! Some of these old gems are now being transformed into mini art galleries and such like - but most are left derelict... Yxx
Noooo...! I care! Beautiful, tragic poem.

DeleteThank you... &*>
The suffering of a phone booth! To think how they quietly disappeared from the land!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Pee Ess - We did not tell anyone the significance of the day for the rodeo cuz we thought you might enjoy telling everyone!
Crikey ..... If we are all sad how must Clark Kent feel?
