It's time to make Goulash
with Grandma again!
(Micro-fiction fun...why don't you give it a go?) Use the picture prompt she
provides to create simple, shortest of short, stories to tell its tale - kudos
gained for using the weekly bonus word. Today that is QUANTIFY
Ben, Bob and Barry
Went down to the quarry
Where the water green
Grew deep and unseen.
Brought with them a bike
In memory of Mike
Who sunk into the depth
Which won his life in theft.
How do you quantify
The way to live or die,
Be it force of Nature
Or misadventure?
What is the measure,
Of loss of treasure,
Is it acts, or age?
Is it calm or rage?
Is’t the level of play
Which whisks life away?
It only takes a second
To land up at the end.
Barry, Bob and Ben
Pondered this and, then,
Sunk the memory bike
And said goodbye to Mike.

I feel sorry for Mike's friends, it is hard to say goodbye. Wonderful writing. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteWhat were they THINKING???
ReplyDeleteThere once were three Guyz,
who thought they were WISE..
They mistakenly believed they needed a BICYCLE to RIDE the WAVES of the Ocean.
Only PEEPS would try THAT notion.
Oh yes, beautifully told.
ReplyDeleteYou are a word crafter, as well as photographer! Much fun!!!! cheers
ReplyDeletehahaha what a fabulous idea of a tribute for Mike... hope no one of the boys had to join Mike... ;o)

I'm so impressed that you took what looked to me like a silly picture and came up with this lovely poem. Mike wasn't the only one who reached pretty deep.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Tammy. I thought it was going to be a whimsical rhyme, but like the water, there was hidden depth. Awesome.
