Menosukhi Moments - Rodeo Reflections

Well that was a ripsnorter of an event last Thursday, was it not? Has efurrybuddy recovered? There were lots of visitors, a few for whom it was their first ever rodeo experience. Some of the participants also - who can forget Ziggy's initition of the Chuck Wagon... and Princess Leah's finery (rocking those boots your Rodeo-ness!)... Mabel(ene) made a super mutton busting organiser and Sweet William was his usual erudite self at the callouts... OMD there were just so very many good moments!

Each of the event organisers will have specially fond memories. For myself, this was my first time being fully involved in organisation of an event in Blogville. The shout for entries of cowpoke poetry brought eight responses and very fine they were indeed! The entire first set was able to be based upon the theme of 'home' (on the range, up the bens or among the gumtrees, according to your preference). Marvellous stuff.  Let's not forget it was also the birthday of cowboy Woody aka Tom Hanks (I didn't mention that he turned 59..) and he showed up on all the sets.

The second set was all about the actual job of cowpokery, rough and tumble as it is. Finally, we settled by 'the campfire' and shared some tales, a dance and a reminisce. It was a grand day indeed.

My greatest thanks to those who sent in poems/lyrics for the show. Deep thanks also to the Mayor Doodz for getting this Rodeo up and running. It was the ideal thing for Blogville! Last but not at all least, thanks to all who took the time to visit here and all the other events. It is exactly such happenings which brings together folks who might otherwise not know each other and even if it is just for the day, the nodding and shaking is much to be admired.

...and the great beauty of a Blogville Rodeo compared to Fleshville one?  It is possible to go back and revisit and relive all the events here, whilst the live version is over and done in its day!

Since then, the YAMster has been recuperating in her hutch, hiding from the elements (do not believe the reports, summer has not arrived in Dunoon!), getting back into rhythm of study, write, research, create. On Wednesday, had the interview with 'HMPassport'... a woman in Belfast, over the internet, who talked like we were old friends and wanted to know where my modem was in the flat, the layout of the flat, how I got from the flat to the local corner shop.............. probably just checking how naturally the answers flowed, but it occurred to me that they can check all this stuff!!! Let's face it folks, there is no such thing as absolute privacy any more.  Seems I passed scrutiny as there was a text the next day from 'HMPassport' saying it was in production and would be sent in the next few business days.

That's all. Not even a piccie. A lazy sort of Monday. ...

Post Script...that was typed on Friday evening; on Saturday morning the postman nearly had the door swinging on the hinges with his knocking. Yup. It's here. Now to start planning...

  2. My assistant had a particularly stressful and long week at work last week and so I missed all the rodeo fun! I am slowly making my way through all the amazing posts.

  3. We loved the rodeo and want to thank you for hosting such a great event. You even allowed Gail's not very rodeo-ish little verse to get an airing. It was a shame that it all coincided with what was a very busy week at work for Gail, so there are still some posts we need to check out.
    Toodle pip!

  4. Yes, until one does it they don't realize that pawticipation in these events is what really gets the bloggers to know one another. It is silly and it is fun and there's nothing wrong with that! The nice thing is everyone can pawticipate in their own style! Thanks for hosting!
