What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

The last of current photos from Edinburgh. These were taken on a visit to the National Museum - didn't have the Fudge with me, but did have the old Nokia. Took only a handful of snaps. Not bad shots. Awful, but not bad...

The clock mentioned here is about the size of your average household telly these days (in terms of the face and dial dimensions). I arrived in the nick of time - the lass needed help winding up one of those gravity wires mentioned above... yes! I actually got to work the winch!!!

...did you spot the 'ring-in'? &*>

Bit of a random selection, eh? That central hall is quite magnificent. Need to take Fudge along next time.

  1. An electric typewriter! When they first came 'round, a doctor in the medical school I worked for told his secretary she would burn more calories on the old manual job. She burst into tears.

....that must have been the prevailing 'Luddism' of the time; when I began typing at school, it was all still manuals, by the time I left is was Olivetti electrics and they were scary monsters.. and I have a vague recall of similar words by a certain teacher who thought that it would cause a deterioration in standards of the 'art'! Yxx

  2. Amazing old clock. Time the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. My city has a lot of old clocks and bells. We have the Verdin Bells and Clock Company in my city. They made the World Peace Bell. I did a post on them. But they make lovely tower clocks. We love to hear the pendulum on our old clock ticking away. And you actually got to help set that one.

  4. Still good photos. We have noisy clocks at our house. No one hears anything on the hour!
