What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Meno-lyricist; a song of the heart

A wee while ago I shared a song with you which was written in the early 19th century by a Scottish lass pining for her love, a fisherman from the isle of Uig.

Whilst I was in the ashram and spending every minute of every day focused on spiritual matters, the haunting melody came to me and, with no effort whatsoever, a new set of lyrics came forward. True inspiration. I share them with you now (with an instrumental version of the music if you wish for the complete setting &*>)

Chorus;
Fhir a' bhata na horo eile
Fhir a' bhata na horo eile
Fhir a' bhata na horo eile
When will thee come Lord, to comfort me?

In often walking the less-walked path, Lord
I search samsaara*, Thy form to see
Will't come tomorrow or come today, Lord,
Will Thee ever come Lord, to comfort me?
Chorus;

It's often said that you cannot be now;
that my love for You is but all in vain.
No! I'm ever constant and ever-true Lord -
it is Your likeness I wish to gain.
Chorus;

There is no death, Lord, no hurt or pain now;
No thing on earth, Lord, can cause me fear.
You are my life Lord, my soul's clear ointment,
my yearning voice must now draw You near!
Chorus;

You are the sun, Lord, the moon, the stars, Lord,
The mountain's peak and the firth's deep bay,
You are the harbour that's safe from storms, Lord,
So devotion's anchor I'll drop and stay.
Chorus;

Hari Om.
