What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menosukhi Moments on Monday

This one is  a gratuitous sharing of family fotos which are not even mine; they were taken with Mac2's fancy fone. It was the day we went to listen to the Maestro and her group. They were playing at Edinburgh's West End (of Princes Street, that is), in St John's Church. I loved being in and on the grounds of that place after so many years. I used to volunteer in their soup kitchen and One World shop, the two being related; it was a fledgling 'fair trade' establishment then (30+ yrs ago). Now the shop is under full management and although still has volunteers, is rather more 'retail'... and the soup kitchen is no more. Instead there is a restaurant branch of Henderson's Vegetarian - an Edinburgh institution for conscious eating, but pricey and not for the street-needy. Changed times.

The father and myself with the castle in the sky behind. We had clambered down a significant number of steps to be in the graveyard. Between us, the father and said self have about three legs, so we're good to go...

The Parkinson's affects not just father's walking and holding of things, but of course his eating, speech and his smile.

Getting him to work those face muscles with mind over matter was the aim of these to shots.

Quite successful, I'd say!

This one of Mac2 and himself rather sums up the MacLeans... a somewhat serious lot with an impish mischievousness bubbling beneath!!!

This was a particularly poignant time for us as the old fella generally declines invitations to outings such as this. It must be said that the crowds were thronging and he couldn't get home fast enough afterwards. But we are glad to have shared these moments with him.

There was one other shot which Mac2 forwarded; it was taken on the evening she and I went to the Spiegeltent to see Silver Darlings (the show which was a bit less than the sum of its parts)...

Crikey. I keep seeing my grannyma when I look at these.

...I guess the Long and Lanky image is due to mobile technothumpery...

Anyhoo. It didn't succeed in kidding you along that myself is at all L&L!!!
