Menocayshun; The Film Series

Strictly speaking, I am back from the menocayshun (assuming I haven't got lost in the Canadian wilderness and this pre-post gets followed by live output...) However, in order to ensure am over any jetlag and to allow a couple of days to try and get some of the Fudge's work together, here is the final of the film series. Full on belter of Scottishness!!!

This is a short film which, although made about Scottish traditions, is something which could ring bells all over the world where such history is being eroded. When songs are lost, so too are memories. Among the notables on the vid is Shiela Stewart (dec'd), a renowned singer of the 'travellers' tradition; Norman Maclean, who is one of Scotland's great stage characters; and also contribution by Margaret Bennett, a scholar of note and well-loved gaelic singer. As a 'by-your-by', her son Martyn (Hodgkin's Lymphoma took him too early) was a bagpiper and all-round brilliant musician, who wrote the music-poem McKay's Memoirs for the opening of the inauguration Scottish parliament.
