What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoffagainorrhoea; The Tail End

As I drove back to Dunoon on that Thursday, I made three stops for photo opportunities.  The first proved a bit of a wash out... not just that it was wet, but to get the best of the Falls of Falloch, one needed to have hiking boots and strong legs, it turned out. Never mind, I managed to enjoy this fallen tree...

It is typical of such country walks in these here parts; the dampness is not just for the winter, but the whole year round. Especially along major rivers such as this one.
Entire little worlds of their own, these mossy habitats!

Back into the car and round Loch Lomond.

Then was back on home territory - well into Argyllshire at least - at a place called Arrochar, at the head of Loch Long. Very bonny wee town that. This is the view down the loch from there...

There were some birdies to see too...

Get the engine running once more and along the road to the Rest and Be Thankful, a part of the A83 which is infamous for landslides and road blocks and all sorts. It is, though, very, very beautiful.

I spotted a buzzard - not brilliant shots (I am beginning to worry about the Fudge), but it can still be identified.

As  I stood there trying to capture this fellow in the lens, a van drew up and a farmer got out with his binoculars... he was attempting to count his rams up on the top of the hills!!! Just at that point, there was the slightest glimmer of hope upon the brae...

  1. Fabulous pictures. What is the black and white bird. A kind of nuthatch? The beak is right, but ours are more blue in the wing.

Oh yes - that was it in the last photo!!! Hehehehe... It is a bit of a running joke about the rain in Scotland. Mainly because it is true; sigh... but we do get some glorious days and on THOSE days there is no place on earth to match it!!! Yxx

  10. Crikey Aunty .... I don't know if it's just me but I can see two different dogs in that last picture. One of 'em looks a bit like Herbie. You can see their eyes and their big black schnoz's. They're very beautiful photos. That view down the Loch and that moss on that fallen tree. WOW!!
