What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-no-greenfingery

In Asquith OZ, I had a garden. That garden was filled with low-care-won't-worry-if-you-get-disracted-we'll-survive plants; things like palm trees, monstera, geraniums (14 varieties!) and native creepers. Buffalo grass at front, the size of granny's handkerchief, paved courtyards either side. No back side.

The Hutch is a flat ('apartment'); one of six in the tenement block. There is a shared back 'drying green', but I do not utilise it. Couldn't plant anything there anyway.

For three years now, have been pondering what to have growing within the flat. Last year I reclaimed a potplant which had been mine way back before I ever emigrated to OZ; it is now 40+ years! Other family members have had cuttings from it over the year, but this original had remained in the family home. Umbrella One, a couple weeks ago, got another trimming by yours truly and is now split into three. U-One remains in the orignal pot, reseated in fresh soil and looking relieved. U-Two is settling nicely into a brand new pot and U-Three is in water only, to see what happens.

These are hardy plants, requiring very little other than some water once every couple of months. An occasional leaf-bath with tepid water and milk makes them shine. Absences to India and OZ have been forgiven.

I decided there needed to be more. Productive more. Two cherry tomato plants, one red one yellow, a capsicum (sweet pepper) and two chili plants, one green one red. Having South-West-facing windows in the Hutch makes for a solarium. Even on the grey days, maximum light is thrown in.

Will keep you posted with progress!
