WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menomentals; teasing the little grey cells

Am in the mood to finish the workday week as it began... try this one on. (Big) HINT; it involves observational skill as well as arithmetic.

HOW DID YOU DO?

What about the last equation?
Coconut (2) + apple (10) + bananas (4) = 16. At least that's what many would have concluded.
It’s not that easy! Looking closely at the puzzle we can see that there is only one half of a coconut in the last line, and only three bananas in the bunch.
So actually, the equation is
Half a coconut (1) + apple (10) + 3 bananas (3) = 14.

  1. I have never like those puzzles. Reminds me of the ones in the AARP magazine. Now I love the Magic Eye!

  5. What fun! How quickly I ignored your hint to observe closely. The first time I didn't count the bananas or coconut pieces. We want to take the fastest shortcut too often.
