MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

A few of you, I am sure, will at least know the name Ramana Maharshi, but how many know the story of this recent saint of Advaita Vedanta? Much can be read on the home website of the still-existing ashram, but I did think that, as an introduction, this little edit of rare footage of the saint, which includes a succinct narrative and demonstrates clearly why many believe he was a reincarnation of St Francis, was something you all might enjoy.

Swami Chinmayananda, from whose lineage this poor student draws inspiration, before embarking on spiritual purpose himself, had been an atheistic journalist. It was his encounter with Sri Ramana-ji which first planted the seed of possibility in his intellect that, actually, maybe there was something more worth investigating. After this, Bala Menon, as he was then, went to the Himalayas and met Swami Sivananda who impressed him as much as the Maharshi had, but who also could address the keen, indeed towering, intellect and answer all the logical mysteries and questions and doubts. There was no turning back, and in his turn, Gurudev became a significant teacher and leader of Advaitam.

  1. Gosh he was certainly a good and gracious host to want folks fed as soon as they arrived. It appeared in the video he had some type of hip or knee problem. I'm sure getting out to walk was difficult but it was surely good for his spirits
