The Tuesday of our week together saw us riding in Mac3's SUV as we drove further afield in search of several more geocaches - five in total, but only two were successfully located (a common problem in this hobby, with combination of 'muggling' - regular walkers thinking they've found trash and disposing of the cache - of location clues being too obscure and/or the satellite feed for geo-positioning getting blurred by trees and such like), but we saw more of the Bonny Land as a result...
At
'The Mound' we found a bit of history which expanded once more our understanding of the area... you can chose between that 'snapshot' article, or this
more technical and scholarly one - or both, if you feel inclined!

What a beautiful place to geocache!! We would love a walk in those woods!

Just catching up here on our glacial paced Torridon internet connection. Gail and I both think that is super interesting about the Mound and Telford's bridge and the impact upstream. Thanks for the links.
ReplyDeleteToodle pip!
Bertie.
I have never gone geo-catching but it seems like it would be a great way to explore new areas (even if you don't find it!)
ReplyDeleteY'all could geocache. I'd just sit and look.
ReplyDeleteOne of my niece was into geo cashe for bit. It looks like a great away of exploring...Coffee is on
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Your scenery(and weather) is so very similar to ours!
ReplyDeletewe love geocaching and the staff did it a lot with Easy.... I think it is time that I find my first cache too... even when the location looks not as fabulous as your wonderful country...
ReplyDeleteHello, lovely place and gorgeous photos. I have never tried geo-catching, I enjoy the hikes. Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThat cottage looks great for a family holiday. My sister and I are planning to stay in cottages next year as well. As a base it would be so much better than a hotel ever is. We're not sure where exactly yet though. And your cottage seems to be a bit far away from where we want to go.
ReplyDeleteHere in Norway you can write your name in a book when you get to the top of a mountain or hill. The books are kept in plastic/tupperware boxes and then in a post box. At the top of course. It always feels like an achievement when you can write your name down!
A wonderful adventure, indeed, in amazing surroundings! xx
