This week, the subject I searched was 'compassion'. A number of fine topics displayed, but this one from Berkeley.edu makes for a good and very informative read.

Compassion v. Empathy

  1. Yam Aunty thank you for the link it is very clearly written.
I try always to have compassion and empathy. I'm sure I fall short sometimes.
But I do really try to imagine myself in someone's shoes and how I might feel. I have a very dear friend who has been fighting cancer for 9 years.
January she started another grueling chemo treatment for 4 months. She Had a month with no worries...then a terrible rash appeared on her side. She has just finished 20 treatments of radiation which I cannot even imagine.
How she marches on. of course she has bad spells mentally and this radiation has taken its toll. She is an inspiration.

  2. That makes the difference very clear. While empathy is good I think we need more compassion.

  8. Very interesting link. I fear I am running low on the altruism gauge these days. Feeling kinda worn down by the orange baboon. Namaste Janice xx
