What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoxploring; Out The Back

Up behind oor wee toon, there is a place called Bishop's Glen. You were shown glimpses of it when Bertie visited. A couple of weeks back, Mac1 popped over from the East side of the Bonny Land to spend a day and a bit with me. On the Sunday arvo, it was dry, though chilly; however, it didn't stop us taking a walk down to the shore and rummaging for rocks. It's a thing we have.

We had a slow-ish Monday morning, wherein I made up a batch of buttermilk pancakes to have with fresh berries and honeyed curd. Then it was up to Bishop's Glen. Mac1, you see, wished to gather more patterns and textures and colours to add to her portfolio for the course upon which she is about to embark. She has borrowed the father's DSLR and needed some practice and guidance with it...

Well, of course, it meant that the YAMster and Fudge had to join in, right?

Oh yes, there were multiple grasses, wildfowl and barks aplenty to keep us occupied for a good couple of hours...

The next two Me-Now-Views days will be taken up with the balance of the best from the Fudge's attempts on this morning outing.

We returned to the Hutch for a latish lunch of cream of cauliflower soup and cheesy toast, before heading out again. Mac1 had some items she wanted to donate to the Oxfam shop (we have a very good one here)... then we wandered down to the old pier for an ice cream (for her) and a hot chocolate (for me); we spotted a couple of pairs of guillemots playing around the harbour - but of course had not carried the cameras with us! We took the long road home coming up Castle House hill and round the back; Mac1 was practically carrying me by this time. It had been waaaaay more exercise than this old rickety body could really manage in one day. Not that I'm complaining. It was a grand time and thank goodness we grasped the day, for Tuesday dawned the more usual driech. So dark, in fact, one had to use lamps all day inside! Mac1 headed off further North to meet with a pal before then going on to the opening weekend of her guilds course. A fine little holiday for her and a joy for me.

  5. Oh, how I remember my first SLR. It was a Minolta. I ended with a Nikkon, several years later. Probably a good thing that little automatic card cameras were perfected; who knows where I would have wound up.
