What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menofestiff. At least an effort...

I may have mentioned that Christmas is proving a bit of a challenge to me this year. There has just been a tad too much happening externally. Spiritual focus has been a bit lacking. However, laying out the tray for the advent candles, and then finding the right sort of greenery to dress it with, really helped. Then dug out the tree. Am keeping it simple. No tinsel or 'froufourie'.

We are getting a lot of mornings like this.

  4. Put out some Christmas decs, but no tree this year. Missed the Advent wreath making at church this afternoon. :( Maybe next year...
And I think no tinsel is good.

  5. Your decorations are lovely. It is a tough year here too as we try to deal with our family member's illness. It is hard to get jolly about Christmas but we need to do it for the kids. Having the tree lit with the nativity scene below has definitely helped.

  9. I used to have tinsel. Until the cats started eating it. And I started finding very 'special' tinsel in a certain 'little cats place'.

You are definitely much further along than I am though. I haven't even taken the tree down from the loft yet!

  12. Your tree and arrangement of candles are lovely. Our last Christmas tree, cut from friends' tree farm and then fully decorated, was discovered to have tent caterpillars! You've never seen a tree so quickly undecorated and escorted out the back door. Alas, the tree farm is no more and we've not had another tree in recent years.

Oh my word, I'd have been tempted to use the nearest window! I have occasionally not bothered with a tree... but have come to the conclusion that it (and the advent wreath) are the essentials, all the rest need to go!

Stephanie, would you be willing to contact me so that I have your email addy? Would love to send personal greetings to you. Yxx

  14. Each year it's a different situation. I'm not speaking to my youngest. Caitlin is hosting her father-in-law & stepmoth-I-L. (She hosted her MIL at Thanksgiving! ) Then Jess is in Vancouver. There have been years we haven't seen ANY family. JB has only had bitter memories of his mother's last Christmases.
We've continually reinvented it as we go, I, at least, have happy memories of Christmas past. Yours look perfect! I might put up our fake tree, so Daisy can climb it and undecorate it!
