WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoducational; Dive Dive Dive

Over on the TAKE bloggy, the presence of a cable-laying ship on last weeks' Tuesday post caused a little measure of doubt in one commenter's reaction to it. He was inclined to think that satellite had taken over communications. For television and radio that would almost certainly be the optimum. You'd think. Even news programs now rely more and more on internet communications and the truth is the majority of that is still very much earth-bound. In fact, The Cloud lives under the sea. I provided (as is my wont) some reference for that reader. Among my searches, this little vid clip appeared. It tells you all you need to know about why we have cable-laying ships still plying the oceans.

  1. Wow. Especially the old maps. I remember grade school and learning of the Transatlantic cable. Transatlantic was such a powerful word.

  2. So speaking of internet etc...About 2 years ago AT&T came through digging and digging for Uverse and now google (I think) is coming through digging in the same places to plant their cables. And they always come when it is too late to spread grass seed over the mess they made. Around here the best time to assure 100% grass to come up you have do it in the fall.
Our spring is short and the summer too long.
