Friday night/Saturday morning. Yes. Insomnia. That's okay. It having been a mate for most of the last decade, am well adapted to it. The time is spent in attempts to knock the brain out. All the sorts of things I've told you of previously - puzzles, research, meditation... writing.
It's still ticking away, that writing bomb. Now here I sit, preparing this post while in amild state of panic shock cold sweat. Not only have I signed myself up for one major challenge, a second and concurrent challenge presented and could not be resisted. Surely a consequence of having successfully knocked out at least the self-preservation part of the brain. That, or I actually am sleeping and typing on autopilot.
Look out folks, it's coming your way. Firstly, there's...
To be honest, I can lay blame for this one at another's feet... Annie over at McGuffy's Reader got all enthusiastic over the ahimsa post and prodded me with it. Clearly, I resisted strongly. Not. Truth is I thrive on these sorts of challenges. I need deadlines. There I was, then, at a loose hour or more studying all the ins and outs, and before I knew it I'd clicked links and ticked boxes. Aw heck, there was my name on the list. It all begins on April 1st (more fool I) but there is a 'reveal' next Monday, so stay tuned for that one.
Big enough, you'd think. Yes, you might think that. The YAMster, on the other paw, can be a bit of a sucker for punishment when it comes down to it. Also, the blame can be placed at the door of A-Z itself, or at least the blog there. A post appeared with the link to...
...sigh...
With that, everything is anonymous. It's a knock-out contest, so even if I submit something (and clearly I intend to or I wouldn't be spruiking it) you won't know which piece of work is mine. Getting into the 30 contestants list is the first challenge, though. So it may not go beyond this mention. However, everyone will be encouraged to go read all the selected offerings and vote - yes the readers get to vote (it's essential, actually) - and if they leave constructive comments, they are even entered in a draw for a prize. Yes. You, the reader can win a prize in the knock out Write Club Competition. It all kicks off in April.
Which is also my birthday month, so why nottorture myself do what I love best, eh?
