WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menotmuchofanything and a Project

Things are intensifying as we head down into the A-Z challenge. You will have seen that last week the bloggy got a makeover - it may still get tinkered with...

Still fiddling with the items I am thinking of submitting to the Write Club competition. Sigh.

I am in Edinburgh for my monthly visit with the father. He's in fine fettle. As long as I don't stir him too much.

Apart from that...

THE PLAKKY BAG MAKEOVER
I hauled out about 20 of the plastic bags from the cupboard, grabbed the scissors and the biggest crochet hook I have.

Yup, I shredded those pups, roughly one-centimetre snakes... work around the bags to get one long 'peel'. Small bags were yielding about 6 metres of 'yarn' whilst the bigger ones were giving 14 metres and even more. The crinkly supermarket stuff was easy to shred and to work; the heavier polythene ones were more difficult. Could have done to cut them a tad thinner. Having bags with different writing and colours made for pretty effect in end product. I made a round base - but you could do oblong. Then just an oblong stretch to bind to it...

I am well happy with the end result!

It will be ideal for popping round to the corner store for the bread and eggs.

That's the cupboard horde reduced by about a quarter... now I wonder what else I can dream up.

  3. Wow, that is very impressive!!! Mom is working on a crochet project now, but she is using a tiny hook as she is making a table runner/doily. Bet that bag is nice and strong too.

  7. It definitely looks sturdier than the regular plastic bag!

Here in Norway people hardly reuse their bags. Instead they use them as garbage bags or just throw them out (in the plastics pile). Which is a shame, since you pay for each and every one!

  8. That is very cool!
Somewhere in Ontario, they were crocheting sleeping mats from milk bags to donate to another country. Get ideas.
