MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

A huge part of living life with the capital 'ell' is to constantly be willing peace to reign upon the earth. One of the great messages of the Bible is that of beating the swords into ploughshares. Clearly, such an ancient advice has yet to be fully heeded, but this does not mean that we ought to give up praying for it.

Even the Vikings, known for their marauding ways, were driven only for finding land to expand their nation. There were significant numbers of that race who sought only to settle and grow.

One of my favourite songs in the recent Eurovision Song Contest was from Denmark and clearly spoke of that more peaceful desire among the Vikings. The simple lyrics speak to the nobility of accepting what has been gained already. That to lay down one's arms is not a loss, but will result in gain of a much greater value. Please enjoy this song - and for the lyrics, click HERE....(NB Madi 'n' Mum have said they couldn't view here, but have been able to watch the Eurovision version at this lyrics link - it's worth it folks!)

Oh heck... I deliberately searched for a version I sincerely hoped would be global; perhaps a search from your side on the name of the band and song will bring up a non-EU-friendly version? Yxx

  2. good I was able to see the video at the lyrics link.
I really like "Take to land on higher ground"
It a way it reminds me of what my Mama used to say when there was a dispute between friends,
'rise above it, be the change'!

  3. Freeze the arrow in the air
Make your mark and leave it hanging there (Oh oh oh)
Be the first to turn around
Take the leap to land on higher ground, yeah

  6. Eurovision was on the TV when I was overnighting in an AirBnB flat in Edinburgh with my American friends.
Try explaining the cultural context and meaning of this unique event to someone wholly unfamiliar with the concept!!!
    Cheers, Gail.

  7. This struck a chord with me. One of the few songs I could play on the piano was "Higher Ground", a gospel song. Here is a link to the lyrics. http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Higher_Ground/ Peace to you, YAM, janice xx

  8. Oh I'm a diehard Eurovision fan Yam - my daughter and I make an annual date to watch it together - we're a little disappointed that it's becoming so conventional these days - we love the weirder and wilder acts. I must say that we both had a soft spot for the Denmark Vikings - the next best thing to a pirate band!
