Three weeks and counting. Only three weeks, I have to remember. The consensus seems to be a minimum twelve-week repair for a broken scaphoid... then rehab time on top of that. Some of you have shared your own experiences - or of close acquaintance - and the message overall is 'it takes time'. Yup.

I bet it seems longer than 3 weeks. did the clinic say when the cast can come off, a projection I mean?

DeleteOct 8th is the planned date but I suspect there will be a need for support strapping for a while after... Yxx
I've known several folks with similar breaks....and time is the key. At least you didn't have to have surgery on it....

Hi Yam - 'shadow self' seems gloomy ... but these things take time - just make sure you stick to what is recommended - so that the healing is complete ... take care - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThis old lady didn't have the pleasure of a cast, but it was a good 4-5 months of regular PT before her arm was close to being back in good working order. We hope yours goes a lot faster. We are sure it seems like an eternity to you, but three weeks already?
