What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

Some of you, I am sure, noted the badge in the sidebar which references the Kerala floods. For the majority of us, the news was presented at the time of the actual event and for a few days after it - but nothing since. This is the way of 'news'; it has to be 'new'.

Sadly that which generated the news at the time does not disappear simply because it is not being reported. This is true of all stories, of course. For many things, it will not make so much difference if we continue to hear about it (indeed sometimes it is best we don't). However, there are other things which really ought to be kept in view as the need continues.

This article tells of how the ongoing flood disaster is affecting the farming of Kerala. It pulls short of stating the obvious - that there will be losses. It does highlight that the government aid is not reaching them fast enough or with appropriate distribution. Immediate help is arriving via private, charity-based organisations. In this case, an animal welfare group. There are many other private groups helping out, and Chinmaya Mission is one of them. Both with hands-on 'seva' (Love in Action), and through gathering of monies to contribute to the regional relief fund. If you have not clicked through, please allow me here to put the relevant info...
  1. Write to us via email: ccmt@chinmayamission.com and we will send the relevant banking details.
  2. For those who are not Indian passport holders, we will share separate banking details as per banking rules.
  3. Members in USA may send their donations to CMW, mentioning that it is for relief work in Kerala.
  4. Kindly do not send funds without prior intimation.
Your 10gbp or 15-20usd can go a long way when converted to rupees. If you feel able to spread the word, that also helps.
