What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menoctoberish - a month of festivals

Now we come to the defining battle of the Ramayana, in which Rama utilises all the skills and wisdom acquired along the way to overcome the forces of hatred. All along you have been hearing and seeing demons, as befits the leadup to Spooky day. Am sharing this battle today because tomorrow's post will be long enough as it is!

NOTES;
Despite his brother Vibhishana's warning of impending doom if he didn't soften his ways, Ravana was determined he could win against the allied armies of Rama and Sugriva. We can certainly look at the history in terms of its strategy and material consequences, but must also remember this is a scripture and the subtleties of life and duty are to be taken from it. Ravana represents our baser instincts; lust, greed, envy, anger, egoism. We must fight our inner animal with the gift we alone have as human beings - our intellect. Summoning our 'Rama-selves' we have the ability to rise above and control our common nature. The battle with our ego is as ancient as our species and the ego is the greatest demon of all!
