Last of the minimalist composers (for now) and the second of the two 'giants'. Steve Reich. One day, deep into last century (well, the late 1970s), the YAMster and a pal went to a show in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was the guy who was hitting the music scene with repetitive sound on non-trad instruments. Things like hands, for instance. Yes, SR was trying out his Clapping Music on the fringe audience to see how it was received.
Let me just say the audience applause was long, strong, and may even have been musical! You don't so much listen to this, as feel it, nod to it, bob to it...
