There was a wee break out of the father's house during the past week. Neighbour M and I had been trying to have an outing together for a while now. There was one particular bus ride she wanted to share with me. A lengthy (1.25 hrs) trip from the foot of our hill through the centre of the city and round by the seaside suburbs to an almost full-circle, terminating at Fort Kinnaird.
The day we did this, a major gale was blowing and we both nearly came a cropper to that, a couple of large gusts catching us both unawares! That aside, we really enjoyed ourselves. We found lunch at Franky and Benny's. I'd never been before but would happily go again. The nine quid meal deal for lunch suited us perfectly.
There was an extensive vegetarian choice; we ended up with mozzarella salad and potato skins with cheesy mash for starters (shared), then we both had the ricotta and spinach cannelloni. It was a delicious meal, in fine surroundings, pleasant service and although full, we were not 'stuffed'!!!
Then it was up to Hobbycraft for me to purchase some more yarn and hooks. I am on a crochet binge at the moment - more on that later.
M had to take a separate bus for return, as she was headed to another appointment mid-afternoon. I use the 49 again and landed back at the flat some six hours after departure. It didn't feel that long. But there it was, the day gone!!!
A very pleasant interlude to the care roster.

a really fun and pleasant way to spend a day with a friend. and food is always PHUN.. that is the good thing about vegetarian, filling and healthy but no stuffed. I would like to try what you had. I like the looks of the place also

DeleteLOL - there is no 'fort'... it is a term used for a geological rise and where, in ancient times, there may have been a fortification. Now it's just n open mall... Yxx
A trip like sort of energizes us, is it not? Glad it went off well.
