What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-now-chuffery; Completion, Mostly

You may recall I had a crochet project in hand. Well, dear readers, I have completed two cushion covers as of last Wednesday. The following images are not perfect. I took them with the YAMroid (little tablet) which only has a 2mp camera in it. Somehow, the pure grey of the recycled wool is presenting here with almost a rainbow quality. Which is fine, cuz it is keeping with the wool I bought for the reverse sides...

Am well-pleased with the results. That yarn for the backs makes up so prettily, I may have to go and purchase some in different colourways to produce something for myself! It is only an acrylic, but lovely to touch and drapes nicely. There is quite a range of shadings, too.

Meanwhile, here is a piccie of the haul of yarn I went out for on the day I fell ill. (And yes, am much better thank you!)

Turns out it wasn't such a bargain, though. Can buy lots more of it online for considerably less than the quid a ball I paid... but the money went to Dr Bernardo's charity stores, so am not that bothered, really.

Now, the challenge is to produce something really worthwhile with all those balls. One large blanket... or a few smaller items for gifts??? Watch this space!

  1. Clapping with gusto YAM. I love the pillows and I am such a fan of buttons on anything. They add personality.
I too am a fan of the yarn colors on the pillows. I am allergic to wool, so I use lots of acrylic yarns
Such a wide variety. I especially gravitate toward variegated yarns. Caron Simply soft is my favorite.

  7. The yarn I bought for my Dahlia blanket was quite reasonable(and was mail ordered from the UK), it was the first time I had actually purchased yarn online, but won't be the last! I am not on Ravelry, but will definitely look into it! Did you find the pattern for your pillow covers there?? I really like both of them, and would really like to use my extras to try my hand at these!

...??? the picture of the helping hands in yesterday's post, you think to look like these? ... well, possibly the last of those images, at a stretch. If only charity could be as unstintingly virulent! Yxx

  9. The pillows came out beautifully. Between you and Mama from LLB, Mom is dying to get some crocheting going, but it will be a while before her arm cooperates. We can't wait to see what your next project (s) will be.

  13. Oh, once you get going, you can't stop!

I once got a really good deal buying wool in Sweden. I had just forgotten that there was a limit to how much you could import into Norway and paid nearly the same again in duties. It wasn't such a good deal after that!!

To clarify, the "second set" is just the backsides of the "first set"... bought the multi-tone yarn as there was not enough of the recycled yarn to make whole covers from it. The basketweave is definitely rather lovely and I will be using that design again!!! Yxx
