WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

A timely message, one feels... it is down to each of us individually to honour the 'shelter at home' (I much prefer that American phrase over the UK's 'self-isolation') guidelines, the hygiene guidelines and the shopping guidelines in order that the family, community and society around us can work through these times and come out the other side in a state to rebuild sensibly. (Maybe for that last bit I do have the rose tints on...Mankind has a dreadful habit of seeking status quo!)

  4. What a insightful and relevant message from Swami Chinmayananda!
It is extremely important that we all cooperate with one another and also behave with a sense of social responsibility in this time of unprecedented global crisis.
In his nation-wide address India's Prime Minister in fact sought help from people in countering the virus menace.
By the way, here in India, it's "stay at home" for all of us. The suspected cases are in "self-quarantine".

Yes, Pradeep, that is sensible terminology. The UK gov have definitely gone a bit overboard with the dramatic (and fear-inducing) wording of their broadcasts. Do stay safe, my new blogpal! Yxx

  5. I agree with you on the rose tinted glasses. We hope that things will change somewhat from how they were, but I too think humans don't learn enough. And definitely not long-term. Perhaps if it had hit a younger generation as hard as it has the older generation. Not that I wish that, but people might just take a slightly different outlook then.

That's an interesting thought, Mara. However, we only have to look at the period of time following the Spanish Influenza (1918-1920), which truly decimated the population (by 25%(ish) of the then global numbers) in which a significant number of 'younger generations' were lost to see that all Mankind as a whole is interested in, is exactly what every animal is interested in. Survival... and that means, ultimately, of the fittest. The young generation that survived that could think only of making the most money and gaining the most property or land as they could, often on the backs of their fellow 'man' who were the cogs in the factories and eventually, the economies overheated, et voila, The Great Depression... History is a cycle. We are destined to keep reliving our lessons, it seems. Yxx

  6. It's good to read messages from leaders. Many are so positive.
I heard them talking about terminology. It's a battlefield out there, and I guess it's better to be more positive. 'Shelter at home' is too close to shelter in place, which we refer to during our emergency drills in school. It's too close to the WW II actions, they say. I like 'self-isolation.'

  7. That is a beautiful message - now if only EVERYONE would heed it.

  8. I recently commented on a thread where Pelosi said Trump's lack of action has caused unnecessary deaths. The pandemic is like the perfect storm. Leaders not choosing to be properly prepared for warnings issued by scientists years ago. Previous lessons chosen to be ignored. The government of our nation was assumed wrongly by we citizens to be preparing. Now is the time to take this experience and learn the hard lessons. The lesson that this nation is one of many on this small earth. When one area has a health emergency the entire world should work together immediately to solve the issue. Working together for the good of persons of the planet, not egos of nationality. And now I will step down off my soap box. Stay safe my blogger people. namaste, janice, xx
