WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Whilst I'm here, let me remind you next week is FFF time again!!!

It seems that on April 17th of 2013, I was 'menoxicated'...

➿➿➿

Now don't get all iffy on me.  Nary a naughty drop has passed these lips - (if you're used to thinking a schooner of liquid amber and the like).

On the other hand, there is a liquid amber of which I dream.  Well, it can be liquid.  Can be solid.  Or somewhere in between.  I speak, dear reader, of the Majesty of the Mango.  That too, the rippling, dripping, sweet and succulent Indian varieties.  Once tasted, spoiled for all the rest.  (Sorry OZ).

I had the temerity, once, to claim I had overcome mangoholism.    It can be beaten.  I know, because I have done it.  That is until the season starts.  Now, this season is here and the twitching has begun.

If there is even a whiff of mango on the air, my nose is after it like any bloodhound. Our ashram trees, of which there are many and of differing varieties, have yet to yield their crop.  However, in the markets, the early growers are out and about and charging a good price for those needy enough to pay.  That would include me.

How to describe the taste?  That's like trying to describe God.  It's as individual as the experiencer.  But I can tell you this.  Something close to ecstasy happens.

I leave you with the picture.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ango!!!

  3. Mango always looks so tantalizing to me, but I have never been able to acquire a taste for it. Your post now makes me want to try again - if only I could get to a store:)

Incidentally, I started with my 'let's visit other blogs' time five minutes ago. You're the second blog I've visited so far and the second mango ode I've come across.
Looks like Mango love is in the air.
So true Yam...it is like defining God! quite impossible.

  8. if they taste as good as our Florida mangos, I am with you all the way. my grandmother had 3 trees in her yard. they had to force me to stop eating them. mango is my favorite fruit of all fruits. I love all fruits but mango is number 1.. I don't care for the ones we can buy in the store, I like the really big ones picked from a tree by myself... I bought frozen mango in the grocery store and I could not eat it.

In desperation, I have used frozen mango - but made sure it was thawed fully, then blitzed it into a smoothie - nowhere near as good as fresh, but actually not too bad. Wouldn't have wanted to try it as was though... Yxx

  11. My kids have the same feelings about sushi. Once you've had fresh in Asia, you cannot go back! No travels this month, though.

  12. Mangoes are delicious. I especially like the mango pudding that sometimes comes as an extra to our food order from the Indian restaurant.

  16. I have never tasted Mango...now I am almost afraid to! I don't need to find something else to fall in love with, but if I do find one and try it, I will let you know. LOL But oh, what I wouldn't give for a good Peach...none of these hard things you get in grocery stores though. Most of them are tasteless and a waste of money.
