Menocreatikul; With Some FACTS

Is it really Monday again? Struth, the days are blinding me.

Anyhoo; Oor Wee Nicola told us some FACTS last week;

This was aimed at all Scots - but no reason it can't apply to the entire global population.

I for one am having no trouble complying with these FACTS and I do believe they will help us to make a genuine difference. As long as everyone (or the greater majority) play fairly.

Meanwhile, back on the ground at The Father's Place, I have settled back in to care mode quite well and have just enjoyed a mini-respite weekend with having Mac1 come to manage the Father for a couple of nights.

What do you do with three strands of very fine yarn..???

Have been getting stuck into my crochet. Back at the Hutch, you may recall, I mentioned starting to work on slippers. The first attempts... combining the three threads above, I produced these, below. (Sorry for the quality - using the self-timer is new to me and didn't quite get the focal length...)

This is what happens to the same pattern when done with a single strand of
light fingering weight yarn and a size 2 hook. I called them Angel's Slippers and
placed them on The Maestro's marker tree.

And the raw Merino spin... got used for slippers for the father.

For reader 'newbies', The Maestro was my late niece who had many problems - but music was the gift that touched us all and her skill on many instruments was outstanding. She passed in 2016, having a natural burial, using a Silver Birch to mark.

  1. Well done on the slippers and what beautiful yarn. The sunshine yellow sneaks in every so often give the slippers
    pops of color.
The Maestro's slippers are perfect for her birch marker, indeed she was a gifted musician...I recall hearing some of her
concerts. Maybe you could post a few of them on Wednesday for folks who might not have heard her.

  2. Meant to say thanking you for sharing FACTS...perfect for all of us as the crazy virus is on an up tick here. Too
much protesting a few weeks ago w/o masks and for sure no social distancing.
We are on a mandatory mask wearing here in NC until July 17

  3. That FACTS chart is a great summary of how to do the right thing. We wish more peeps would pay heed - that darn virus is getting worse around here too.

All the slippers are very nice, but those Angel's Slippers really touched our hearts.

  9. It is so strange to see how different countries react differently. Over here, face masks are only mandatory on public transport (albeit not the drivers, pfew). I read a post the other day of someone who was wearing them while out running. On his own. In an area where there were hardly any others. Outside. And he thought that everyone should wear them. If the place is empty, who are you going to catch it from? The bugs? Although, I can see how face masks would be handy keeping them out of your throat...

Love the slippers. Especially the thin ones. Very angel-like. Perfect for your niece. I will start some crochet once I have finished my latest cardigan. Which I can't seem to get into at all at the moment.

    1. Gail says: Strange also how different people react. Here, I've seen photos of people in indoor crowded places with no masks, and then I see cyclists out by themselves on isolated country lanes wearing full face protection!

  12. At one time in my life I had a pair of these done in pale blue with heavy yarn kind of like the yarn on your dad's slippers. They wore out because I wore them all the time but at that time I lived in a cold climate. That would be much too warm here but I am thinking if you made it with a single yarn they would be like Florida slippers

  13. Hi Yam - well done on settling back in again ... those slippers look great and very smart. The FACTS instructions make perfect sense and need to be followed ... similar to the FAST notations when reacting to strokes. The Maestro sounds to be inspirational - just sad she's left you ... but love the idea of her natural resting place. All the best - Hilary

  16. Those FACTS as you rightly said apply to everyone worldover, especially in Bengaluru where I don't see many serious about following these rules. Not surprisingly the numbers are going up now.
Those slippers look lovely! Nicely done!

  17. If only our leader would follow the rules. But, no. It is all about the economy and his own face being seen. namaste, janice xx
