During September, Aitch was able to visit; just for a day. She lives a two-hour(ish) drive away. About as far South and East (and over the Border to England), as the Hutch is due West of Edinburgh. It was so lovely to see her and just as well she came when she did, for we are once again on restrictions to social visits within the home.
After lunch, and some time spent with my father, she and I went out for a couple of hours, just walking the neighbourhood in pursuit of geocaches. We found three quite literally within a mile of home! Part of the route took us into the Kings Buildings campus of the Uni of Edinburgh. There was a lengthy sit down on a park bench along the way. Time to debrief between ourselves.
Wee brother, Mac3, was up for a ten-day visit also. He and Aitch get on well, so the cud was chewed over from his side also.
The lad decided our windows needed to be cleaned, so set to that task over a couple of days. He's thorough.
Mac3 also proved an eager and competent student of personal cares, managing quite a bit of that to provide relief for your's truly... and I concentrated on the kitchen and housework. During his stay, the flooring in dad's bedroom was upgraded and also another declutter of things, including furniture, was undertaken. Altogether a worthwhile week-plus and both dad and I enjoyed the different company.
For those who have been following closely, we also had the news that there will be four nights of waking care assistance provided by the company I approached back in August - starting on October 5th. This is going to - hopefully - provide better sleep time to me and therefore enable my game a bit more during the daytime cares! Time will tell; not sure that father is entirely looking forward to this change, but I do believe he accepts the need. All in all, September was a fairly positive month...
OH my goodness can you hear usclapping with glee and jubilation? YAM what a lovely post. I'm so glad Aitch came and you both got out and about. Please give Mac3 my compliments for services rendered. What a wonderful week full of visitors and excellent assistance.

What a great month for some down time with a friend. Then time to get things organized for your Dad to make it all easier for everyone. The change be challenging for us older folks. Or it can just be real fun depending on the mindset. namaste, janice xx
ReplyDeleteHi Yam - so pleased Aitch got up to visit with you ... and that Mac3 was there too. Both helping in so many ways .. the mind for you and Aitch, and Mac 3 for the heavy duty chores needing doing ... well done. All good for your soul - I'm sure your father will cope ... it takes time - and I gather things are perhaps settling in now nearly a week after your care help started. All the best and hugs ... Hilary
