WYSIWYG

What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

MenoAZinkulling: I

This month here at the Wild YAMster's bloggy, you are going to be regaled with words related to feelings and happenings of the last twelve months. Oh yes, you know of what I talk.  This is to be the ALPHABET OF AAARRGFIZZZ... We've all had to deal with it. This will be a reflection purely from my point of view. You don't necessarily have to agree with what I say, just appreciate where it's coming from. Normal service will resume on May Day. (By which time I may be yelling that down the ether phone loud and repetitively!)
☀♉☀
Almost certainly you will be expecting it of me, so here it is... Isolation. Yup - avoid crowded places, better still don't leave home. Stay put and preferably not with anyone else. But if you must stay with anyone else, be sure to keep apart as much as possible and keep up the hygiene. If you exhibit symptoms, isolate further and get a test (talk about contradiction!!!)

Indoors. Stay there, we said!

Immigration. What? Oh yes, never mind all the not-travelling effect of Coviditionitis, if you have any intentions of coming to the disUK for purposes of study, work or residency, then you need to think about the new rules. You know, that Breakshit thing. Don't forget that has to be contended with even as we are still under the cosh of the rampant lurgy.
Independence. As in Scottish (and possibly Welsh and maybe even Northern Irish...) You see, the whole of this time of COVID has not been entirely caught up in health matters. Other matters of state have had to be discussed and pondered and, in the case of them doon sooth, feared. The track record of oor wee Nicola in handling pandemic matters has been significantly better than that of him in the Big Hoose. He and his cronies are getting so very worried that they have taken to showing the bully flag on every government building all day, every day - as a 'reminder of the ties that bind us'... 'oh you can still fly the Saltire, but it must sit beneath the UJ'...  The last year has highlighted increasing differences and, although still some way off, there would have to be a huge shift in Westministerial attitude to swing Scotland back to 'no.'

Thus you see it has not all been about lurgy and binge-watching/eating/sleeping... the world continues to tick, regardless.

See you Monday for the ongoing saga. Please be aware that there is more I amAZing over at

  1. The entire immigration sector has been disrupted. It will take a while to even semblance of normality. Yesterday I was watching on BBC how the British government is colour coding countries, and how travellers from those countries will have to get tested on arrival and if needed quarantine themselves.

  2. No question that Nicola handled the pandemic so much better than him at Westminster. Not that it changes my mind about the bigger Independence question! (About which my normally very harmonious Thursday cycling group apparently had a big row recently on a ride I had not attended. There's a strong majority for the Union among Aberdeen's energetic sixty something year old cycling and scone eating ladies. Such an emotive issue.)
    Cheers, Gail.

  4. each time I read the last part of your daily post, i see more and more similarities of our two countries.. i thnk of all the I words you chose today, Isolation is properly in first place... part of my isolation feelings comes from never seeing others faces. shopping, doctor visits is all I do to come in contact but it is not true contact because of the face coverings. bob and i talked about this today, both having been to meet with dermatolgist and there staff. he said we don't even know what our doctor looks like because she is new in the past year.. good post, thank you

  5. Ironically I had an Interesting encounter on Thursday Grocery day which by the way is at first light.
Our grocery store has personal shoppers for those ordering online. Each Thursday I see the same happy eyes of a young personal shopper, Lamonte. We always speak and exchange a few sentences about groceries etc. Last week he said excuse me ma'am. I turned to see his friendly brown eyes. He said, you know I only see you once a week but every time your glasses are foggy. I replied, they stay that way, probably when we finally see each other's smiles we might have to become reacquainted.
    Hugs Cecilia

  6. This is a trying time, isn't it. I've been getting outdoors and it's wonderful to feel spring.

  7. I am probably in the minority, but I'm not minding isolation at all. Molly and I just don't feel lonely or bored.

  8. The election next month is going to be very interesting, and the aftermath. As you say, at this rate N. Ireland might beat the Scots to leaving the UK!

  9. Another great post. I had thought the Isolation would become Intolerable. But with technology it wasn't as painful as I expected. I most missed the hugs and fun times with my kids and grandkids. But slowly and carefully we are getting back together.

No, the Union Flag - combining all four countries flags - the one most know of as Britain, but say England - but it kinda amounts to the same thing now, the way things are going. That link in post will show you the story...Yxx

  11. Interesting post! It ignited interesting thoughts and we are intrigued about all the Union Jack intimidation that Westminster is trying to push! There is the injections! I can't wait for Wednesday to get my first! Thanks for visiting us and we hope you have a marvellously happy day!

  12. I got caught up with some of UK's political news after reading this post. I've been living under the proverbial rock it seems--no surprises as have watched very little news these past 2 years.

  13. Our i word is initiative - what we've had to use to stay sane.
There is also the I that appears to be motivating some elements of society more than the WE and has F thinking more on community, how it works ,how it self-regulates and at what point regulation has to be made by some person or group outside the immediate community for the benefit of a wider society. We call it government, but the political machinations of all governments has revealed sinister undertones and the pulling up of drawbridges for completely wrong reasons (whatever they SAY the reason is.)

Oh, I hear ya! Initiative has been very much to the fore this past year and I thank you for adding it to this list! On another blog yesterday where a similar theme had arisen, I commented, "The more populated our world becomes, it seems, the more society lends itself to ‘cutting off’… we become more insular and the concept of true community fades. Then we have bodies lying for years undiscovered…" It is one of the great dichotomies of life now... Yxx

  14. Hi Yam - life is certainly irritatingly different - but we go on - stay safe and I'm debating going to London ... for a quick visit to see an outdoor exhibition - we'll see how life pans out. I'm sure there's lots of Is I could think of - but for now L for life goes on. All the best - Hilary

  15. Thank you for visiting my blog and your kind comments. Frankly, I can't wait for it all to end; I think sometimes that in our desire to 'stay safe' we lose perspective. Last autumn I wrote piece in my blog that I titled 'the last light of summer' and I said ...

'In Welsh, the word cynheaf means both autumn and harvest. That we reap what we sow has been an aphoristic earworm to my year. I worry that our pickings will be thin, that in focusing our minds, we’ve narrowed our perspectives; in our terror of the dark, we've ironically dimmed the light.

That sums up how I feel.

  16. Ahh, there you are. I am going to try clicking on follow one more time. Glad you stopped by which reminded me to drop in for a quick visit. Good alphabet pickings. As usual, I don't understand a lot of what you wrote (darn words I've never heard of) but agree with what I did. May 2021 be a better year with better alphabet words.

  17. During the whole "shelter in place" thing of 2020, I have always questioned the..."Stay home unless you need to go out" mentality...I was more of a "venture out safely, stay distanced, mask up and wash yer darn hands" type of gal.
