What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

I will be having to mine the archives for quite a while yet, I'm afraid. Thankfully there are quite a few years of those, so even if you had seen them before, chances are you've forgotten!!! That said, just to get back in the saddle, as it were, let me share something very current - the nesting box in the back yard of the Hutch... I peek out every time I go to the kitchen, I fear I may miss the fledging. Followed by some recent sky shots.

"This'll do, love!"

This cheeky robin appeared from nowhere the minute Angie downstairs put out the food

...and even beat the PIGeon to the feast!

Genuine, out of the camera colours...
showing how, if the sun can shine through the rain,
it's possible to smile through the tears...

Sunrise on my b'day - those clouds got bigger and darker... but this 0730h glimpse was a delight.

  5. Robins are fascinating birds - very territorial - and scientists believe they can 'see 'magnetism', or at least they can detect it through their eye. It's a long and complex story as to how we came to know this - described by Tim Birkett on his book Bird Sense - what it's like to be a bird. Worth looking up.

All birds are fascinating, Mark! Since my "Young Ornithologist" days till now I have loved to seek and observe them... though it has to be said that here, around the Hutch, there's a bit of a limit. Though that limit includes two of my favourites, corvids and laridae! Thanks for the book recommendation - added to the wishlist. One of the best books added to my library or late has been Gulls Of The World by K M Olsen. If this one matches up to that standard I may not be able to resist it! Yxx

  6. Good to see the birdlife in the back yard, and those sun shining through the showers shots are most atmospheric.

  10. Robins are definitely not stupid - most of the time - and they've got humans worked out. There was a robin that nested in our wood shed which wasn't entirely clever. F put what was meant to be cat proof netting around it but a cat (and I'm not saying which one) still managed to hook the nest out from between the logs. Let's just say that robin featured in Darwin awards. (F likes the idea they can see magnetic fields, so might read that book too) Fz & Pz Mr T

  15. Your sky photos are incredible. The vivid colors are amazing. Perhaps those skies are a big advantage to living where it rains so often! Happy Birthday to you!
