What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Menolyrical; Final Friday Fiction

Well, that's half a year gone again...

Have you taken some interesting image that triggers your imagination - or a fond memory? All you have to do is tell me about it. Full guidelines on the page tab above.

The image I use today for my own FFF was something of a happy accident... I was standing at the kitchen window at dusk and the lamp through in the hallway bounced against the glass at just the right amount to have me - just for a second - thinking there was a new light outside!

On reflection, Heera figured, life was like that illumination in the window before her. All glow and no show. As intangible as any breath of wind, yet felt as sharply.

She could hear the echo of her grandmother's admonitions so many years ago. "All this is but an illusion, Heera-potee. It's all stuff and nonsense! Every trouble you have is only as large as your mind allows it to be. Next time that girl teases, you imagine her upon the filmi screen - no substance at all."

Heera gazed upon the window's projection of the hall behind and tried to imagine the light going out, leaving the reality behind. All that ancient wisdom from her daadi-ma... deep thinkers everywhere came to the same conclusion eventually.
Will shook his spear at it after all...
"Out, out, brief candle!
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more."

Could this thing be reimagined? Could she make of it a filmi character which could be snuffed out when the light source was withdrawn? One thing she knew for sure. There was no hiding now. She'd have to tell Hemant about the diagnosis this very evening.

  1. that was very wise what the granny said. we will keep it in our mind and maybe then there is not much room there for trouble...

  3. That is a ghostly image. I could just imagine there being a whole new room, hidden from view except on those rare occasions. Oh, the stories that are taking place in that other room...

  5. I say yes in your mind's eye I'm sure she could. What great capture of the lamp too.
Will this story continue next month?

Unlikely. Each tale must evolve from the image as presented... Yxx

I can't tell you how often I do this. The reflection in our living room window often shows JB, and I wonder who that is??!! xx

  8. Taking an image to spark a response in writing or art is an excellent technique, especially if we can allow ourselves to flow.
Not been around much this week or last - had some very bad news on family illness - so just calling by occasionally for a while.
