What You See Is What You Get. This is a journal blog, an explore-blog, a bit of this and that blog. Sharing where the mood takes me. Perhaps it will take you too.

Me-Now-Views; Less Speak More Peek

Another series of moon shots for you. (It's what happens when one is desperate for new lens-fodder!) Anyway, there's quite the variety... including one at the end, which shows the passing ISS - yes, the International Space Station! You, too, can check when it flies over using this link. Just type in your nearest city in the search box. It's not available every night and even sometimes for weeks - but golly, it's become my new favourite hobby when watching the night sky!!!

Last month's gibbous moon.

This one was actually waiting in the Fudge since winter -
see the snow on the rooves?

Last month's full moon. It was sitting low, similar to the previous image,
which causes the light to give it that yellowish hue. Yes, it really was that colour!

The next night, I took the same moon but with the Hisstix instead of Fudge.
The lesser zoom allowed more light, so the yellowing was much reduced
or non-existent on this image. The clouds made it look like Jupiter!

Out of sequence. This was the moon just getting started last month.

Purnima over Wymess Bay... and a speeding ISS above the clouds!!!
I had set at 3200 ISO, so full light into the lens, which meant
the speed of the ISS caused it to streak a bit.
This is just as well because it might not have shown up otherwise.

  1. I have a friend who is out most every night the ISS is visible, waving and cheering it on.

  2. Space is always interesting. Opens our eyes to a million possibilities. That shot of the passing ISS is amazing! I never knew that we could see it with our naked eyes. Let me see if I can check out, taking the help of the link you have shared.

  4. YAM-aunty you seem to have the same apricot moon that we had last month. Maybe it is not surprising that some stories have it made of cheese. (Wallace and Grommet for example) Nice photos. Furrings and purrings Mr T (and F)

  5. Hi Yam - those are a fun selection of moon shots - including the ISS as it scoots across the sky ... and yes the streak certainly brings the ISS more easily to our eyes - cheers Hilary

  7. Those are cool night pictures. It's been so cloudy and rainy around here we don't get to enjoy the night sky much.

  11. I LOVE your Moon shots! My night sky viewing has been in the dumppster since the fire season started in June. We have not had the telescope out once this summer. Maybe we will get lucky in September. Thanks for showing us your Moon!
