MenoSundays; Life Lived Lovingly

A third on the theme of self-development (refer two preceding Sunday posts);

It is so easy to become embroiled in the externalities of life, forgetting to introspect and develop ourselves. We do have to apply analysis to ourselves as much as to others and situations that arise. Digging out our own faults can be challenging. In avoidance of self-analysis, we can seek to justify or pass that fault to others.  Or we become laden down with self-condemnation, without ever seeking ways to improve and climb out of the pit.

The biggest antidote to this is Love of the capital 'ell' variety. Yes, for others, lending compassion to our interactions. But also for ourselves. We can become embittered and angry if we forget that Love is there to be applied as a tonic to our own wounds as much as to those of others...

  1. Sometimes outside forces are just so strong, it is easy to forget to look at and in yourself. Taking a step back in that instance may be hard and it would be easier to go with the flow of blame and such. Love and awareness of oneself will certainly help break that mould.

  3. Dear YAM-aunty, We had a TED-talk evening on Thursday (Mr B away so TV turned off and some catching up on recommended talks and following interesting links down other rabbit-holes). One we listened to was about self-analysis and why people might have inflated ideas about their skill sets and abilities. Strange coincidences like you posting this self assessment observation today seem to abound these days. Online, we get it, our views and interests are sliced and diced and fed back to us even if we choose every 'don't follow me around' privacy setting we can find, but you aren't feeding us cookies and analysing our excrement (sorry, as polite a way as we could think of to say it), so your coincidence must just be the cosmos speaking to us this week. Furrings and purrings Mr T and F

      Dear Tigger and F,
      I do not necessarily believe in coincidence - serendipity, yes. There are ethereal threads at work which are nothing to do with algorithms and ethernet! I have so many such serendipitous moments, and some build up to momentous things... if you read my Friday post you will recall that I have an inkling that such a confluence may be building in my own life. Yet still, it requires of us proper thought and correct action in order to see through the completion of the 'stitch' in the tapestry of ethereal threads... and I have learned over the years that the darned 'ether' has a way of ensuring we get the message!!! 6. I take your point here, but also think that those of us with a bias towards introspection do well sometimes to take external viewpoints on board too!
    Cheers, Gail.

  7. Learning to accept all our imperfections and not to see fault, but humanity, is something I am working on - especially in regards to myself!

  8. We love the quote! It is so true. Mom is a little better. We try to take care of her by laying on her and purring. She has thumbs and can open the cat food tins (and scoop the poop). The sooner she is mobile the sooner we can be taken care of in the manner to which we have become accustomed.
