Menoizikul; Midweek Musicalisms

After a summer of totally random music picks, back to a themed month, and it's time for the annual outing of sea shanties; that too by the Fisherman's Friends. I featured them last year among a variety of others, but here are a few from their own channel. You may recall that I had watched the movie telling their story. (You can find it on Amazon, Apple TV or Google Movies for rent or buy - and I heartily recommend it!) As their own blurb says;
The original ‘buoy band’, bound together by lifelong friendship and shared experience. For 30 years the Fisherman’s Friends have met on the Platt on the harbour in their native Port Isaac to sing the songs of the sea. A decade ago they were persuaded to sign the record deal that saw their album Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends go  Gold as they became the first ever traditional folk act to land a UK top ten album.

Let's begin with them in a live concert, getting the audience to participate... it's a shanty that was written for the transition time from sail to steam and diesel.  Get your earphones on and singalong!

  7. What fun, I love the hand motions and the words. When my mom was in assisted living, Wednesdays were music day. I often arrived and OH what fun they had with this type of music. I remember one in particular about an inch worm
