In our very busy lives, it can be easy to overlook the abundance we have. Indeed, all too easy to complain about what we do not have instead. Those of us privileged enough to be sitting here reading this may have difficulties, but these pale to insignificance when compared with those who are in theatres of war, escaping terrorising regimes, or living in places of environmental disaster. To live through such things is to learn that what this world, what Nature can give, can also be withdrawn. Instantly.
Live in gratitude for Life and the living of it. Know that what has been provided throughout it is a gift.
We all guilty of over looking things.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Perhaps it's a symptom of spending too much time reading about and listening to international news and current affairs, but gratitude for living in relative peace, safety and abundance is never far from my thoughts. It is a luxury to be able, as I was yesterday, to be sitting with friends in a café in a beautiful Scottish National Trust estate (Crathes Castle), sounding off at length about our appalling mess of a government!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
F agrees with Gail... here we are travelling across Europe while war rages on it's eastern side and the worst thing we have to worry about is blood testing a cat. (Although Mr T might not agree it's relatively trivial.) Sitting here in 2022 Dubrovnik it is hard to imagine war raged here and these people were under seige 30 years ago. The scars are remarkably well erased. Our host probably lived through it but we are reluctant to start the conversation without knowing her better. xxx Mr T and F
ReplyDeleteGail says: Smart move on F's part to be careful about what you say in that part of the world. Gail recalls how, in a part of Bosnia near the Croatian border, she commented to a friendly hotel proprietor that she hadn't seen any mosques in that area. The temperature of the conversion plummeted to frigid and she replied "no, we are clean around here"....
DeleteHi Yam - yes ... I consider myself lucky with being born when and where I was ... I am grateful and try and be very considerate ... not always, sadly. Take care another odd week ahead ... but I shall enjoy my time - with thoughts - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI thank the Lord every single day for all that I have.
ReplyDeleteYou are 100000% right YAM be thankful for each day you have. Being greedy or envious of others robs you of the joy right in front of you.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
My prayers are filled with gratitude. I don't ask for anything, I'm just so very grateful for what I have.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the news and grateful we're only fighting against a gun club here!
ReplyDeleteI often find myself wishing for more or different and losing sight of the fact I am a very privileged person. Thank you for the reminder.
